For your visit
Come prepared.Leave with a plan.
A practical companion to your appointment: what to prepare, what to pack, what happens on the day, and what to do once you are home.
01Before your visit
Ten minutes now,a better visit.
Preparation is the single biggest thing you can do to make a consultation useful. None of it has to be neat.
- Write down your main symptoms: when they started, what they feel like, and what makes them better or worse.
- If your symptoms include blackouts or memory change, ask someone who has seen an episode to come with you, or to write down what they saw.
- Note the questions you want answered. It is easy to lose one in the room and remember it in the car.
- If you have specific access needs, say so when you book, so the visit can be arranged around them rather than after them.
02What to bring
The list to packthe night before.
Tick these off as you gather them. Nothing is saved — the list clears when you leave the page, so print it if you want it in your hand.
0 of 6packed
- The whole list, including anything bought over the counter. A photograph of the boxes is fine.
- MRI, CT, EEG, blood results — originals, clear copies, or photographs on your phone.
- The one you wrote in the stage above. Bring it even if it feels obvious.
- Plus the name and contact of the doctor who referred you, if there was one.
- For an eye appointment, bring the glasses you actually wear, not only the newest pair.
- For blackouts or memory change, an account from a person who was there is often the most useful thing in the room.
03On the day
What happensonce you arrive.
Consultations run in the evening. Come within the window for your specialty and your appointment is one-to-one with the consultant.
- You are welcome to bring someone with you; there is seating for them in the waiting area.
- The consultation includes examination and any in-clinic assessment relevant to your visit.
- You leave with a plain explanation of the findings and a clear next step — ask again if anything is unclear.
Consulting hours
- Neurology consultation

- Eye care consultation

04After your visit
Reports, medicines,and following up.
The clinic keeps a record of your care, and the next steps are yours to hold onto as much as ours.
- Ask the front desk how to get copies of your own reports. They will explain what to bring and how long it takes.
- Do not stop or change a medicine on your own. If something is not agreeing with you, call and ask before your next dose.
- Where ongoing care is needed, follow-up is arranged with you before you leave rather than left for you to chase.

Common questions
The questionspatients ask most.
Clinically reviewed
Medically reviewed by Dr. Priya Raman, MBBS, MD, DM (Neurology)
Will I have tests at my first visit?
Sometimes. The consultant decides whether tests such as an EEG or nerve conduction studies are needed. Not everyone needs tests.
Should I stop my usual medicines before an EEG?
Do not stop any medicine on your own. Ask the clinic — for most EEGs you keep taking your usual medicines.
Is the information on this website medical advice?
No. It is educational and general. It does not replace an assessment of your own situation by a clinician.
